Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar
  • 8 slices sourdough
  • 1/3 cup ranch dressing
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

    Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp, 6 to 8 minutes. Drain and keep the pan.

    Slice the chicken into thin cutlets and season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook in the bacon fat, 3 to 4 minutes per side, to 165°F. Slice.

    Spread ranch on all 8 bread slices. Layer cheddar, chicken, bacon, and more cheddar, then close.

    Butter the outsides and griddle over medium heat, 3 to 4 minutes per side, until deeply golden and melted.
