Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 8 hot dogs
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 cups vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard

    Whisk the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a tall glass or deep bowl. Whisk in the egg and milk until smooth. Rest the batter 10 minutes.
