General Tso's Beef 🥘
Tender beef in a complex sweet-spicy sauce with hints of citrus and chile heat, a restaurant classic you can make at home.
Ingredients (serves 4)
- 1.5 lbs beef sirloin
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 egg
- 4 scallions
- 4 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Slice beef against the grain into thin pieces. Beat egg in a bowl and mix cornstarch with salt.

Dip beef pieces in egg, then coat with cornstarch. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Working in batches, fry beef until golden brown, about 5-6 minutes per batch. Remove and set aside.

In the same skillet, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
