Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 1.25 lb shrimp
  • 8 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 scallions
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

    Pat shrimp dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.

    Heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat. Cook shrimp until pink and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

    Reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring often, until it becomes light golden and fragrant.

    Whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, red pepper flakes, sesame oil, and cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water.

    Pour sauce into the skillet and simmer for 1 minute until thickened. Return shrimp and toss to coat.
