Classic Chili Dogs 🌭
Snappy grilled hot dogs buried under a quick beefy chili, shredded cheddar, and diced onion, ballpark nostalgia at home.
Ingredients (serves 4)
- 8 hot dogs
- 8 hot dog buns
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1 onion
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp salt

Dice the onion. Brown the ground beef with half the onion in a saucepan over medium-high heat, breaking it into fine crumbles, about 6 minutes.

Stir in the tomato paste, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and 1/2 cup water. Simmer uncovered 12 minutes until thick.

Meanwhile, cook the hot dogs in a skillet over medium heat, turning often, until browned and heated through, about 6 minutes.

Warm the buns in a 300°F oven for 3 minutes or steam them briefly.

Nestle a hot dog in each bun, ladle chili over the top, and finish with shredded cheddar and the remaining raw onion.
